Fethiye is a harbour town on Turkey's south west coast, about an hour's drive from Dalaman airport. Rock tombs carved for the ancient Lycians look down on the town, and daily boat trips tour the twelve islands of Fethiye bay.
A short drive away, Ölüdeniz has a sheltered blue lagoon and a long beach, and paragliders launch from Babadağ mountain above it. Boats run to Butterfly Valley, reachable only from the sea or by a steep path.
The Lycian Way walking trail starts nearby, and the abandoned village of Kayaköy and the Saklıkent Gorge make good day trips.
